Highlight of the Week (June 18, 2016 - June 24, 2016)

Highlight:
Game 7 Ticket ... on my phone.
Seventh Heaven!!!! Wow.  That was pretty awesome. Winner-take-all game.  The Cavs managed to beat out the Warriors in a close game 7. Warriors couldn't close it out.  But when you don't score in the last 4:39, then I don't think you should win ;)  NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was booed as well.  I guess its simply customary to boo the commissioner of the sports league.

Trophy Presentation
We should up to the game pretty early. The A's were playing and the game was going to be let out just before game 7 starts. So, there was a 'tailgate' area that the Warriors had setup with face painting and other activities.  They also had the 2015 Larry O'Brien (yah, I had to look it up) Trophy.  You weren't allowed to touch it ... or lick it. I had ask what the consequences would be, and the security guy basically said, well, we can't really do anything about it ... (but I didn't want to find out since I was going to game 7).

You can lick it, they really can't do anything about it
Honourable Mention:

The boys have been super good.  We think Tucker is finally getting it. I managed to walk (and control) him when passing 2 dogs! This was super exciting since its never really happened before. Brodie is literally just being ... Brodie. Super easy to walk, I don't even think I need to hold his leash.

Lowlight of the Week:
Village Falafel closed a few months ago and I have been eagerly anticipating the replacement restaurant. On Monday, we received notice there is a new establishment opening up.  Its "Coconut Joe's Cafe."  Yet again my hopes of an A&W or Jamba Juice or Krispy Kreme have been dashed.  I guess I will wait and see to see if its any good.  Also, still waiting for that remodeling to complete Fresh Pixx - maybe that will be remodeled into an A&W.

Random Moment:
So ... United Kingdom, that's some good work (*sarcasm*). Even though almost everyone told you that its a bad idea. I wonder if Trump can trump that.  Maybe he will just tear up NAFTA and pull out of the WTO - and of course not ratify the TPP. I have to wonder about Trump. Why would you applaud the "Leave" vote when you are in Scotland, where they voted to "Remain"? I guess that's Trump being Trump.

One of the main things I did really appreciated about the referendum was how clear the question was was.
"Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union?"

Instead of from the 1995 Québec referendum (from Wikipedia):
"Do you agree that Québec should become sovereign after having made a formal offer to Canada for a new economic and political partnership within the scope of the bill respecting the future of Québec and of the agreement signed on June 12, 1995?"

What kind question is that? I don't even know what I'm voting for!?!  At least in that case, since no one actually knew what they were voting for, they voted, "Non." Which is something that you probably always do when you don't understand the question. Just say No.

One Last Thing:
Happy Birthday Rumiko!

Not Quite a Superfan! ...

... but maybe some what close.  Back in May when the Toronto Blue Jays played in San Francisco.  Crystal and I had to go (not just to 1 game, to ALL 3 games!)

Holy cow are Jays fans crazy.  There wasn't just a few of us, there was A LOT of us.  I thought I was a super fan, but alas, I only had to take a 1-hour train ride and a 20-minute bus/train ride from my apartment.  Almost everyone else actually flew down from Canada!

For each of the games, I had selected specific seats in specific sections via Stubhub.  Since there does not seem to be anything available from their site.  The prices were very reasonable and even below cost in some cases.

Game 1:
So, we had decided to treat ourselves to some INCREDIBLE seats!  Row 1, right behind home plate! Seriously.  The Super Bowl has sort of skewed my ticket values, and that's not a good thing.  So, you are allowed underneath the stadium in the tunnel. And you can go to where the visitor's dugout is and look who was walking by!

Edwin!
In theory, if I wanted to, I could have simply waited around there to see the players go in and out of the clubhouse.  But you gotta watch the game if you sitting RIGHT BEHIND home plate.
Look its me taking a picture of me on TV.
Not only that, the umpires come out right in front of you before and after the game. Lucky, "Cowboy" Joe West, Angel Hernandez or C. B. Bucknor were not umping the game.

Pre-Game 2:
Instead of taking the CalTrain back and forth from the City, we actually spent two nights in San Francisco.  Crystal really had not been to SF yet.  So we decided to head down to Pier 39.  Word to the wise, do NOT get a churro and eat it near the dock.  The seagulls will dive in and attempt to grab it from you.

This is the seagull that attacked me!  I know who you are!!

Look at all them sea lions!

Game 2:
Bullpen side, 3rd row.

I got tickets for Matt L. and Sarah! Blue Jays won.  Osuna and Chavez seemed to get into it while warming up.  It was great catching up with Matt and Sarah, I haven't seen them since Birthgivingfest.

Why can't we all be friends?

Game 3:
Outfield seats!

So, if you know Crystal, she does not like to be on camera. She really didn't appreciate that she was potentially going to be on TV.  So, I had figured that there was no way that we would be on TV in the outfield. I guess I was wrong.  Courtesy of Lee (again), he snapped a pic of the broadcast. And yes, you should go and get your 2016 Authentic Jersey with 40th Sleeve Patch.  We only have the replica.

We were given bonus baseball!  Although the Blue Jays lost in 11, but at the time it was expected since their bullpen was pretty terrible except for Osuna.

The girl laying down behind us?
Yes, she is really hung over. HAHA

Summary:
If you do go to AT&T Park for a game.  Here are a few recommendations.
1. Get some ballpark food.  Its good!  Their garlic fries are awesome. The nachos is ridiculously good.  There is a 'food plaza' in centre field. Check that out.
Assuming its organic ... so its healthy for you.
2. If you go to a night game, bring a jacket or sweater!  Even in July/August.  It gets cold and its gets windy.  You will not be very comfortable.

Crystal and I had a great time. We got to explore a very tiny part of the city and we will probably be doing another weekend in the City in the summer some time.  Blue Jays won the series ... and well now they are playing much better.

Yes, I know this is pretty late but I will try to do better with these updates (I'm working on the Stanley Cup Finals one now).

Highlight of the Week (June 11, 2016 - June 17, 2016)

Highlight:
Stanley Cup Final: Game 6.
Handshakes at centre ice

The Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup and we were there! It was really kewl seeing the series ending handshake and the Cup getting hoisted.   Also, Gary Bettman got to hear my boos personally.  Just mine, and not the other ~15,000 other people.

Honourable Mention:
After 4 weeks, I finally got a whiff of freshly baked doughnuts from the "Donut Wheel".  I walk by that place every day in hopes of getting a whiff of some fresh donuts (I don't actually go in, I simply walk by to and from work).  Its the little things in life that are the best.

Lowlight:
Getting hit in the nuts by Draymond Green (just kidding). Actually, this week was pretty good.

Having some fun

Random Moment:
Looking at the first couple of "Highlights of the Week", they seem very sports heavy. Hopefully next week will bring out a less sports focused highlights (or the week after).

Highlight of the Week (June 4, 2016 - June 10, 2016)

Highlight:
5-year anniversary weekend!! Yes its been five years! Kept it low key, went and saw a movie (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) at the Sketchy Mall.
Sketchy Mall in all of its glory!
Anniversary Breakfast Table (Well, before I made breakfast)
I had to get pink roses because there are no florists open in the area on Sundays ... seriously
(Had to get organic flowers from Whole Foods - well I'm assuming its organic)
Honourable Mention:
Attended Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals!!!! And Tucker did not pee in the house either!!  Metallica played the National Anthem which was pretty awesome (see previous post)! Sorry its in Flash, but that's what Blogger does I guess?

After the game!

Lowlight:
Normally a 10-15 minute drive to the SAP centre took 45-minutes on Monday.  Not only that, witnessed an accident on the way to the game ... just not good.

Random Moment:
I was reading this National Post article and I saw this picture!  Thats Bulgarian Brodie!

From the National Post!
Its BRODIE (or his doppelgänger)

Highlights of the Week (May 28, 2016 - June 3, 2016)

I have decided to try something different.  Each week I will try to post an entry outlining a highlight of the week.

Highlight of the Week:
Attended Game 1 of the NBA Finals!!!  Not only that, Tucker did not pee in the house during the game!

Honourable Mention:
Chris brought me back a Tim Hortons' Chocolate Glazed Doughnut from Sydney, Nova Scotia.  I miss Tim Hortons!

Lowlight of the Week:
Sort of? Self inflicted Blue Jays blackout has resulted in a 9-2 record.  Not sure if their poor play was my fault or not.
